How love is winning at the Olympics

August 2, 2024

Every four years, I turn into a lean, mean Olympic viewing machine. Watching from my couch, I scream myself hoarse, spout random Olympic stats and rabidly follow the athletes on social media. Relatable much?

This year, I’ve noticed something different. Some Olympians have gone viral, but not for winning medals. Norwegian swimmer Henrik Christiansen has gone viral for an unexpected reason – falling in love.

This love story began when Henrik Christiansen tasted a double chocolate chip muffin in the Olympic Village cafeteria. Christiansen rated the muffin an 11 out of 10. It was love at first bite.

He then made a series of videos sharing his deepening chocolate muffin love affair, and the internet has gone wild for this love story. In the videos, Christiansen and the muffin watch the sunset together, tour the Olympic Village and walk the streets of Paris hand in hand. He even makes an apology video to his muffin for being too intense, too soon.

He is now officially the ‘muffin man’. Muffin fever has spread like wildfire in the Olympic village. The muffins are hard to get, as everyone is obsessed.

Outside the village, the internet wants to know how Christiansen’s love story will end. I already have tissues on hand. TikTok commenters describe this love affair as ‘the best story to come out of the Olympic Village’.

Who would have thought you could craft a love story with a muffin? The unpredictability keeps you hooked, unable to guess what will happen next, yet eager to find out!

In business storytelling, predictability is a death sentence. If the audience can guess where the story is going, boredom sets in, instantly killing your audience’s attention.

Finding fresh, unpredictable stories and making them land in business sounds so hard, doesn’t it?

But making it easy is my job. If you want to learn how to tell a story to connect, engage, and inspire any audience, I can show you exactly how. I have the recipe for storytelling success—and no chocolate muffins are involved!
